Another Successful Project for Jimmy Swaggart Ministries

Baton Rouge, LA – Benson & Falgout is proud to announce the completion of our latest project for Jimmy Swaggart Ministries on the Smith Wigglesworth Building at 8919 World Ministry Loop in Baton Rouge, LA. This marks the 9th building we have completed as part of a 5-year long restoration project on the campus. 

The Smith Wigglesworth Building required extensive work on its exterior to ensure that it maintained its structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. We began by removing the existing sealant on all vertical and horizontal control joints through a combination of manual and mechanical techniques. This allowed us to prepare the surface for the application of new sealant, per the manufacturer’s specifications. We applied a porous primer where necessary to promote adhesion, ensuring our work will last for years to come. We also installed a soft closed cell backer rod to ensure proper joint configuration and avoid three-sided adhesion.

Next, we turned our attention to the damaged precast panels with exposed aggregate. Our team expertly repaired any damage before utilizing pressure washing and biological cleaners to clean the exterior walls of the building and prepare the surface for waterproof coatings. We applied one coat of a water-based, high-build, 100% acrylic waterproof coating, following the manufacturer’s specifications. We then coated the building with one coat of water-based, 100% acrylic, smooth, easy-cleaning, waterproof coating, which provided even more protection. 

The final piece of work we performed on the building was to seal the windows on all elevations. This involved the careful removal of existing sealant, surface preparation, the installation of a closed soft cell backer rod, and the application of elastomeric, gun-grade polyurethane sealant. We expertly tool the sealant to a smooth professional finish, providing the building with complete protection from the elements.
